Major squeeze

The major portion of the PGA schedule usually closes in August with the PGA championship.
But with golf as part of the Rio Olympic Games, the major schedule gets squeezed in 2016. So two weeks after the Open championship, top golfers will be trying to claim the final major of the year.
CBS has weekend coverage starting at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. TNT brings the first two rounds starting at 1 p.m., with early coverage Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m.
Across the pond, NBC brings the Women’s British Open Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Orioles have a makeup game with the Twins Thursday at 7 p.m on MASN, then travel to Toronto for the weekend.
The Nationals have a four-game set with the Giants, with games on MASN2 and Saturday’s contest also on FoxSports1.
The Cardinals face the Marlins Saturday at 7 p.m. on FoxSports1 and Sunday on TBS. ESPN closes the weekend with the Mariners taking on the Cubs Sunday at 8 p.m.
Pocono hosts the Sprint Cup race Sunday at 1 p.m. on NBC Sports network, with the Truck race Saturday at 1 p.m. on FoxSports1. The Xfinity Series will be in Iowa Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on NBC Sports network.
NBC Sports network offers the German Grand Prix Sunday at 7 a.m. The IndyCar circuit goes to Mid-Ohio Sunday at 2:30 p.m. on CNBC.
The MLS all-stars battle Arsenal Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on  ESPN.
In the International Champions Cup, Celtic takes on Barcelona Saturday at 1 p.m. followed by Chelsea-Real Madrid on ESPN.
Edmonton and Winnipeg tangle north of the border Thursday at 9 p.m. on ESPN2. British Columbia faces Calgary on ESPN2 Friday at 10 p.m.
ESPN2 has the round of 16 from the Rogers Cup Thursday at 1 and 6:30 p.m. The quarterfinals are Friday at 12:30 and 6:30 p.m., with semifinals Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and the finals Sunday.
NBC has the Haskell Invitational Sunday at 5 p.m.

Time to kiss the bricks

NASCAR visits Indy this weekend, with a big kiss planned by the winner at the end.
NBC Sports network has the Sprint Cup race Sunday at 3 p.m. Around 6 p.m., the winner, his crew and family will gather at the start/finish line to celebrate by kissing the bricks from the original track.
And plenty of pictures to remember the occasion.
The Xfinity Series goes Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on NBC Sports network. There’s qualifying for both races Saturday at 11:40 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., after practice Friday starting at noon.
Then you’ll have to wait until next May for another visit to the famous oval.
NBC Sports network carries the Hungarian Grand Prix Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
The Tour de France closes its run on Sunday with the final race into Paris at 11 a.m. on NBC Sports network. Stage 18 starts Thursday at 8 a.m., with more mountain stages Friday and Saturday at 7 a.m.
The Orioles close a series against the Yankees Thursday at 1 p.m. on MASN before heading home to take on the Indians for the weekend on MASN2.
The Nationals face the Dodgers Thursday at noon on MASN2, then host the Padres on MASN for the weekend.
The Yankees host the Giants on FoxSports1 Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. on TBS. FoxSports1 features Rangers-Royals Saturday at 7 p.m. and the weekend closes with Dodgers facing the Cardinals on ESPN Sunday at 8 p.m.CBS has the Canadian Open Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.
Leicester City faces Celtic in the International Champions Cup Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN, with Internazionale against Paris Saint Germain Sunday at 5 p.m.
Portland battles the Galaxy Saturday at 3:45 p.m. on ESPN and it’s Sporting Kansas City facing Seattle Sunday at 3 p.m.
The United States women face Costa Rica in an international friendly Friday at 8:55 p.m. on ESPN.
The road to the Flushing Meadows begins with the Bank of the West Classic. The semifinals are Saturday at 5 and 10 p.m. on ESPN2, and championship Sunday at 5 p.m.
In Arena Football, Arizona hosts Cleveland Sunday at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.

Open up

Time for the British Open.
And a new location on the cable box.
The Open moves to NBC and the Golf Channel, with coverage starting Thursday at 1:30 a.m. on Golf Channel.
Mike Tirico also makes the move from ESPN to NBC for the event, as studio host in his first gig at his new broadcast home. NBC has weekend coverage starting at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Orioles start the second half with a weekend trip to Tampa Bay on MASN2.
The Nationals take on the Pirates for the weekend on MASN.
It’s a Red Sox-Yankees weekend, with games on FoxSports1 Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 8 p.m. on ESPN. The Tigers take on the Royals Saturday at 7 p.m. on FoxSports1 and TBS offers Rangers-Cubs Sunday at 2:20 p.m.
NASCAR heads to New Hampshire for the weekend, with the Sprint Cup race Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and the Xfinity Series goes Saturday at 4 p.m.
The IndyCar circuit visits Toronto, with coverage on CNBC Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Tour de France continues with Stage 12 Thursday at 8 a.m. on NBC Sports network. The ride continues Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. with Sunday’s stage starting at 7 a.m.
In MLS action, Fox brings Seattle-Portland at 3 p.m. Sunday. Montreal meets New York City Sunday at 4:55 p.m. on ESPN while FoxSports1 has the Red Bulls against Philadelphia at 7 p.m.
CBS has the final round of the LPGA Marathon Classic Sunday at 4 p.m.
ESPN2 carries the Celebration of the Life of Pat Summitt Thursday at 7 p.m.
In Arena Football, Philadelphia faces Tampa Bay Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
The NBA Summer League reaches its second round of competition Thursday, with games at 4:30, 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. There’s games Friday at 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. on ESPN2, with quarterfinal play Saturday at 6, 8 and 10 p.m.
The semifinals are Sunday at 6 and 8 p.m.

Breakfast at Wimbledon

Fortnight at Wimbledon draws to a close this weekend.
wimbledonESPN has the men’s championship Sunday at 9 a.m., after the ladies crown their champion Saturday at 9 a.m.
Thursday brings the women’s semifinals, with top-seeded Serena Williams going against Elena Vesnina and big sister Venus Williams against Angelique Kerber.
The men’s semifinals will begin Friday at 8 a.m. as Andy Murray faces Tomas Berdych while Roger Federer battles Canadian Milos Raonic.
Euro 2016 concludes with the championship match Sunday at 3 p.m. on ESPN. Host France takes on Germany in the second semifinal Thursday at 3 p.m., with the winner facing Portugal.
The Orioles host the Angels on MASN2 Friday and Sunday, with Saturday afternoon’s game on MASN.
The Nationals visit the Mets, with games on MASN Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Saturday’s game is part of Fox’s coverage. TBS also carries Sunday’s game.
Fox also has Dodgers-Padres and Cubs taking on the Pirates Saturday. FoxSports1 offers Yankees against the Indians Saturday at 4 p.m., and the weekend closes with Giants-Diamondbacks Sunday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Winnipeg takes on Hamilton in CFL action Thursday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2, followed by Toronto-British Columbia at 10 p.m. Saskatchewan battles Edmonton Friday at 10 p.m.
NBA Summer League goes on ESPN Friday, with Timberwolves-Nuggets at 8:30 p.m. before the Lakers meet the Pelicans.
The Sixers battle the Lakers Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2 followed by Spurs-Warriors. Sunday, the Bulls go against the 76ers at 8:30 p.m. before the Celtics clash with the Suns.
Seattle battles the Galaxy Saturday at 3 p.m. on ESPN and it’s Red Bulls facing Portland Sunday at 6 p.m.
New York City takes on Sporting Kansas City Sunday at 8 p.m. on FoxSports1.
The United States faces South Africa in a women’s international soccer friendly Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on FoxSports1.
The road to Rio continues on NBC Sports network with track and field trials Thursday at 8 p.m. on NBC. There’s more track and field Friday at 6 p.m. on NBC Sports network and NBC at 8 p.m., then Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m.
Gymnastic trials are Friday at 9 p.m. and Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
