Cowboys’ bye week – what will NFL do?

NFL TV ratings have dropped this season.
The league has another worry this week – it’s the Cowboys bye week.
After three straight weeks of Dallas as the main game shown at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, CBS has to find something else for the prime slot. Tom Brady and the Patriots take on the Steelers in hopes of catching the nation’s attention.
The week starts Thursday on the Packers visiting the Bears on CBS at 8:20 p.m.
It’s a London week, with the Giants meeting the Rams at 9:30 a.m. on NFL network. The Ravens have a second straight game at the Meadowlands, taking on the Jets on CBS at 1 p.m. while the Redskins battle the Lions on Fox at 1 p.m.
Sunday night, the Seahawks tangle with the Cardinals on NBC while ESPN has the Texans’ trip to Denver Monday night.
The college football weekend begins Thursday at 7 p.m. from Blacksburg, with Virginia Tech hosting Miami at 7 p.m. on ESPN. BYU battles Boise State at 10:15 p.m.
Temple takes on South Florida at 7 p.m. on ESPN, with Oregon-California in the nightcap at 10:30 p.m. ESPN2 brings San Jose State against San Diego State at 10:30 p.m.
NBC Sports network goes to the Ivy League for Pennsylvania-Yale Friday at 7 p.m.
Louisville faces North Carolina State at noon on ABC Saturday, and at 3:30 p.m. it’s either West Virginia-TCU or Nebraska playing Purdue. The game not seen over the air in your area will be on ESPN2.
In primetime, Ohio State visits Penn State.
Top-ranked Alabama takes on Texas A&M on CBS at 3:30 p.m. Fox has Utah against UCLA at 4 p.m. followed by Oklahoma taking on Texas Tech at 8 p.m.
Virginia takes on North Carolina on Comcast at 3 p.m.
ESPN starts its day at noon with Iowa-Wisconsin. Auburn faces Arkansas at 6 p.m. followed by Mississippi-LSU at 9 p.m.
Kansas State tangles with Texas at noon on ESPN2. SMU battles Houston at 7 p.m. and it’s Wyoming-Nevada at 10:30 p.m.
FoxSports1 brings Kansas and Oklahoma at noon.
Syracuse faces Boston College on the ACC network at 12:30 p.m.
MASN has a pair of games from the Big South conference Saturday, with Gardner-Webb against Kennesaw State at noon followed by Liberty-Monmouth. Bucknell plays Lafayette on MASN2 at 1 p.m.
There’s high school football from Florida Friday at 7 p.m. with IMG Academy meeting Trinity Christian.
The Indians have advanced to next week’s World Series, and awaiting the winner of Cubs-Dodgers. Game 5 will be Thursday at 8 p.m. on FoxSports1, with play returning to Wrigley Field Saturday at 8 p.m. If necessary, there will be Game 7 Sunday at 8 p.m.
NASCAR heads to Talladega, with the Sprint Cup on NBC Sports network Sunday at 2 p.m. The Truck Series goes on Fox at 1 p.m.
Comcast has the Capitals’ contest with the Panthers Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and home game against the Rangers Saturday at 7 p.m.
Penn State visits Notre Dame in college ice hockey Saturday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports network.
It’s one game for the WNBA championship as Minnesota faces Los Angeles Thursday at 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
The Wizards host the Raptors in a preseason game Friday at 7 p.m. on Comcast.
Manchester United has a Europa League match against Fenerbahce SK Thursday at 3 p.m. on FoxSports1.
In the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur meets AFC Bournemouth Saturday at 7:25 a.m. on NBC Sports network. Manchester City meets Southampton at 8:25 a.m. Sunday followed by Manchester United-Chelsea.
Seattle faces Real Salt Lake on ESPN Sunday at 4 p.m. and FoxSports1 offers Dallas-Los Angeles at 4 p.m.
The United States women have a friendly against Switzerland Sunday at 2 p.m. on FoxSports1.
West Virginia visits Texas in women’s soccer Sunday at 6 p.m. on MASN2.
