Matchup 102 years in the making

The Red Sox and Dodgers have been playing since before the first World Series.
But this year is only the second time they’ve met in the Fall Classic.
The series continues Friday with Game 3 from Los Angeles. Fox has coverage at 7:55 p.m., with games Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 7:55 p.m. if necessary.
Boston took a 2-0 series lead Wednesday, hoping to win its fourth World Series since 2004. The Dodgers, who lost last year’s Series in seven games, have not hoisted the trophy since 1988.
The Texans host the Dolphins Thursday on Fox.
CBS has the Ravens’ contest with the Panthers Sunday at 1 p.m. The Redskins battle the Giants on Fox at 1 p.m., followed by Packers-Rams.
The Saints take on the Vikings on NBC Sunday night, with Patriots-Bills on ESPN Monday at 8:15 p.m.
Virginia Tech hosts Thursday night football this week, facing Georgia Tech on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. West Virginia battles Baylor on FoxSports1 at 7 p.m. and Toledo takes on Western Michigan on ESPN2 at 7 p.m.
ESPN has a pair of contests Friday night, with Miami-Boston College at 7 p.m. followed by UCLA against Utah. Minnesota meets Indiana on FoxSports1 at 8 p.m.
The ACC network offers Virginia’s game with North Carolina Saturday at 12:20 p.m.
Clemson clashes with Florida State on ABC at noon, then it’s either Southern Cal-Arizona State or Houston against South Florida. The game not seen over the air in your area will be on ESPN2.
In primetime, it’s Oklahoma State-Texas.
CBS has the top 10 contest between Georgia and Florida from Jacksonville at 3:30 p.m. Notre Dame takes on Navy at 8 p.m.
Northwestern battles Wisconsin at noon on Fox, followed by Kansas State-Oklahoma.
ESPN starts its day at noon with Purdue takes on Michigan State. It’s Iowa-Penn State at 3 3:30 p.m., then Texas A&M takes on Mississippi State and Arizona hosts Oregon in the nightcap.
Texas Tech takes on Iowa State on ESPN2 at noon. Syracuse battles North Carolina State at 7 p.m., followed by Hawaii-Fresno State.
TCU tangles with Kansas at 3 p.m. on FoxSports1 and Washington clashes with California at 6:30 p.m.
There’s a pair of ACC games on NBC Sports Washington-plus Saturday, with Wake Forest-Louisville at noon before Duke takes on Pittsburgh at 3:30 p.m.
North of the border, Toronto tangles with Montreal on ESPN2 Sunday at 1 p.m.
On the high school gridiron, Hewitt-Trussville faces Thompson Friday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
NASCAR visits Martinsville as the playoff field has dropped to eight competitors vying for the season championship. NBC Sports network has the Monster Series Sunday at 2:30 p.m., with the Truck Series going on FoxSports1 Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Thunder take on the Celtics on TNT Thursday at 8 p.m., with Nuggets-Lakers in the nightcap.
NBC Sports Washington has the Wizards’ contest with Sacramento Friday at 10 p.m. and visit to the Clippers Sunday at 9:30 p.m.
The Capitals visit Edmonton Thursday at 9 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington, with a Saturday contest against Calgary at 4 p.m.
On the college ice, Notre Dame hosts Minnesota-Duluth Friday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports network.
Sporting Kansas City meets Los Angeles FC on FoxSports1 Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
Cardiff City clashes with Liverpool on NBC Sports network Saturday at 9:55 a.m. NBC has Leicester City against West Ham at 12:30 p.m. Arsenal battles Crystal Palace Sunday at 9:25 a.m. on NBC Sports network.
In the Bundesliga, Werder Bremen takes on Leverkusen on FoxSports1 Sunday at 1 p.m.
Milan meets Sampdoria in Italian Serie A Sunday at 1 p.m. on ESPN.
Virginia hosts North Carolina State in women’s soccer Thursday at 6 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
There’s women’s volleyball between Duke and Pittsburgh Sunday at 1 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
