The defending champion meets the first champion as the Major League Soccer season kicks off this weekend.
Atlanta United, winners of the MLS Cup in its second campaign, hosts D.C. United Sunday at 6 p.m. as part of the MLS opening weekend.
The league welcomes its 24th team when Cincinnati debuts in Seattle on FoxSports1 Saturday at 10 p.m.
The Galaxy face the Chicago Fire Saturday at 8 p.m. on FoxSports1 and ESPN2 has Los Angeles FC against Sporting KC Sunday at 8 p.m.
NASCAR finds out what happens in Vegas this weekend, with the Monster Series on Fox Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The Xfinity Series goes on FoxSports1 Saturday at 4 p.m. after the Truck Series goes Friday at 9 p.m.
Nebraska takes on Michigan in college basketball on ESPN Thursday at 7 p.m. before UCLA faces Southern Cal.
ESPN2 has Connecticut’s clash with Wichita State Thursday at 7 p.m., with Minnesota-Northwestern at 9 p.m. and Gonzaga tangling with Pacific at 11 p.m.

The Flyers and Penguins have a big NHL rivalry.
Saturday, they play in a big venue.
Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field hosts this year’s Stadium Series contest, matching the rivals who played in Pittsburgh two years ago. NBC has coverage starting at 8 p.m.
The Flyers have won their prior three outdoor games, including one at the Phillies’ stadium in 2012. They struggled early in the season before a recent hot streak, moving them close to the Penguins for a playoff berth.
The Capitals visit Toronto Thursday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington and the Sabres Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rangers meet the Capitals Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

DW and the boys return to the booth this weekend for NASCAR’s season opener.
Fox has the Daytona 500 Sunday at 2:30 p.m., with pre-race coverage starting at 1 p.m. It’s the 19th season Darrell Waltrip has been in the Fox broadcast booth, joined by Jeff Gordon for the past few seasons.
William Byron and Alex Bowman clinched the first two spots in Sunday’s lineup during last week’s qualifying.
The Xfinity Series starts its season Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on FoxSports1 and the Truck Series goes Friday at 7:30 p.m.

There’s a new league in town

The Alliance of American Football begins its inaugural campaign with two games on CBS Saturday at 8 p.m. as San Diego visits San Antonio and Atlanta battles Orlando and its coach Steve Spurrier.
Birmingham, Memphis, Arizona and Salt Lake City round out the league, which will hold its championship in Las Vegas in late April.
