Little League Classic

Sixteen teams from around the world gather in Williamsport, Pennsylvania this weekend to compete for the Little League World Series title.
And get a day with big leaguers.
The Pirates and Cubs bring their series finale to Williamsport Sunday at 7:15 p.m. for the third MLB Little League Classic after an afternoon visiting with the players and catching some games.
The Pirates played the Cardinals in the initial Classic in 2017, with the Phillies and Mets tangling last year.
Little League pool begins Thursday at 1 p.m. on ESPN, with Australia taking on the Caribbean. New England faces the Southeast representative at 3 p.m., followed by Latin America against Asia-Pacific at 5 p.m. and the Midwest facing the Great Lakes at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
It’s Japan battling Europe-Africa on ESPN Friday at 2 p.m. and the West against Southwest at 4 p.m. Mexico meets Canada at 6 p.m. and the Northwest plays the Mid-Atlantic squad at 8 p.m.
First round losers play Saturday, starting with the 1 p.m. game on ESPN. ABC carries the 3 p.m. contest between United States teams, then back to ESPN at 6 and over to ESPN2 at 8 p.m.
First round winners start early Sunday, with games on ESPN at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. ABC offers the 3 p.m. contest before the teams head across town to watch the big leaguers in action.
The Junior League has its championship Sunday at noon on ESPN2.
The Orioles, who will play the Red Sox in Williamsport in 2020, visit Boston for the weekend on MASN. The Nationals host the Brewers on MASN2, with Saturday’s game also on FoxSports1.
The Astros visit Oakland Thursday at 4 p.m. on FoxSports1 and TBS offers the Braves against Dodgers Sunday at 1:20 p.m.
The Redskins try to bounce back against the Bengals Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
ESPN has the Raiders’ contest with the Cardinals Thursday at 8 p.m. and catches the 49ers and Broncos Monday at 8 p.m.
The Saints clash with the Chargers Sunday at 4 p.m. on CBS and Fox brings Seahawks-Vikings Sunday at 8 p.m.
NASCAR visits Bristol, with the Monster Series under the lights Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on NBC Sports network. The Xfinity Series goes Friday at 7:30 p.m. on NBC Sports network and the Truck series takes the track Thursday on FoxSports1 at 8:30 p.m.
Pocono hosts the Indy Car circuit Sunday at 2 p.m. on NBC Sports network.
Arsenal battles Burnley Saturday at 7:25 a.m. on NBC Sports network. Sheffield United clashes with Crystal Palace Sunday at 8:55 a.m. and Chelsea takes on Leicester City at 11:25 a.m.
The Galaxy take on the Sounders in MLS action Saturday at 10 p.m. on ESPN2. FoxSports1 has Portland-Atlanta Sunday at 10 p.m.
In the Bundesliga, Dortmund duels with Augsburg Saturday at 9:30 a.m. on FoxSports1 and B.M’gladbach faces Schalke at 12:30 p.m. It’s Eintracht against Hoffenheim Sunday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Union Berlin-Leipzig at noon.
The second women’s International Champions Cup final will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
NBC Sports Washington has the women’s soccer match between Portland and the Spirit Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
The PGA tour’s FedEx playoffs continue with the BMW championship Saturday at 3 p.m and Sunday at 2 p.m. on NBC.
Pinehurst host the U.S. Amateur championship, with finals Sunday at 3:30 p.m. on Fox. There’s round of 16 play Thursday at 4 p.m. on FoxSports1, quarterfinals Friday at 4 p.m. before the semifinals move to Fox Saturday at 3 p.m.
The U.S. Open tennis series continues with the Western & Southern Open this weekend, with the women’s championship Sunday at 2 p.m. on ESPN2 and men’s title match at 4 p.m. There’s semifinals Saturday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. after quarterfinals Friday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and round of 16 action Thursday on ESPN2 at 1 and 9 p.m.
The Mystics meet the Fever Sunday at 3 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
The Chaos clash with the Archers in Premier Lacrosse League action Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on NBC Sports network. The Whipsnakes face the Redwoods Sunday at 6 p.m.
